# Merchant authoring

## TL;DR — ASD-STE100 style

- Start with reusable layouts.
- Use section settings and blocks for local composition.
- Use resource fields for resource content and metaobjects for shared content.

The homepage is the merchant editing benchmark. A bounded custom-content group is the escape hatch when a reusable layout does not fit. Keep approved appearance and behavior while adapting storage for Shopify editing.

The prototype's `lib/design-system/shopify-metafields.ts` is the machine contract. A definition or a guide does not prove data has been migrated or editing has passed acceptance.
